QR graphic or NFC tag: specify the scan or tap experience

Choose the action before drawing the instruction

If you want someone to open a page from a branded object, decide whether the instruction is to scan a printed QR code or tap a compatible NFC tag. A decorative “tap here” graphic does not itself supply an electronic tag.

NXP's NFC tag documentation describes a chip that communicates with compatible NFC devices and requires an antenna. That hardware is a separate component from the visible artwork.

Assign the destination and the physical component

Our recommendation is to write the desired behavior in plain language, then give each deliverable an owner. For example: “Open our current product information page from this display.” This is a planning example, not a tested installation.

  • Destination: identify who controls the final page and keeps it current.
  • Scan option: prepare the actual QR artwork for that destination and test the finished graphic.
  • Tap option: have the tag supplier specify the hardware, programming and suitability for the intended object.
  • Instructions: make the visible wording match the function that has actually been installed.

If you provide both actions, test both. Do not assume that the tag contains the same destination as a nearby QR graphic.

Four assignments for a scan-or-tap display: destination, scan option, tap option and instructions.

Approve behavior on the assembled object

Keep the tag's placement requirements with the object's specification. Review the complete assembly with its supplier before covering or decorating it. A successful demonstration using a loose component does not verify your finished display.

As an acceptance check, ask a colleague to follow the printed instruction using the intended device, confirm the page that opens and report any extra steps. Record what you actually checked; do not turn that check into a claim that every phone will work.

Order the visual layer with a clear scope

Review UV-DTF options for suitable decorative projects and the artwork requirements. Send Transfer305 the object and graphic specification. Arrange electronic tags and programming separately; the artwork order alone does not establish either function.
