Prepare each design, size and quantity

1. Measure the usable area of the actual garment and choose the intended final dimensions.
2. Prepare the artwork at those dimensions, preserving proportions and intentional white details.
3. Prepare a separate specification for each design and final size, with the quantity required.
4. Use the ordering controls to submit the artwork and review the accepted width, height and quantity.
5. Review the item amount and transfer subtotal before approving payment. If a configuration is not accepted, resolve it before ordering.

Prices are per transfer at the listed size, before tax and shipping. For any other size, review the quoted price per transfer and subtotal for your dimensions and quantity before payment.

For a multi-design job, keep one line per artwork version, final size and quantity. Record each placement separately so front, back, chest and sleeve pieces are not confused.

Choose a placement, then measure the actual garment

Measure the usable front, back, left-chest or sleeve area on the actual garment. Check seams, pockets and the usable area of your heat press before choosing dimensions. Left chest means the wearer's left; a front-view illustration can place it on your right.

Use these rectangles to plan the design. Measure the actual garment, preserve the artwork proportions and review the dimensions and amount in your quote. For two placements, record each design, size and quantity separately.

Keep the design's proportions

The selected rectangle, the visible design and the uploaded file's outer edges may differ. Check transparent margins and decide whether the artwork is being fitted or cropped. A wide logo should not be stretched into a square.

Review the final artwork dimensions, the dimensions used for the quote, the quantity, the price per transfer and the transfer subtotal. A reference box or an illustrative outline does not establish the dimensions being charged. The preview is not actual size.

What artwork file does a size-based DTF order need?

Upload artwork at the final printed size whenever possible. A transparent PNG works for raster artwork when it has enough pixels, and a vector PDF, SVG or AI file scales cleanly for logos and lettering.

Aim for 300 PPI at the size you order. A 4-inch-wide design needs about 1,200 pixels across, a 10-inch design about 3,000 pixels, and a 12-inch design about 3,600 pixels.

An image can look sharp on a phone and still be too small for a large back print. Do not enlarge a low-resolution raster file just because the form accepts a bigger size. If the file is small, send the original source or order a smaller size.

Should I order by size or build a gang sheet?

Order by size when you need a few known placements, each with its own size and quantity. Build a gang sheet when many designs can share one sheet.

The more individual placements and copies an order has, the more a shared sheet can help. If you are not sure which fits, send us the designs and quantities and we will point you to the right ordering path.

Who orders DTF transfers by size?

Teams, schools, churches, businesses and apparel brands order DTF transfers by size when each logo, name, number or placement needs its own size and quantity. Print shops, embroiderers and promotional distributors order them when they need one specific size without building a full gang sheet.

• Team and school uniforms: primary logos, sponsor marks, player numbers and coach titles at separate sizes.
• Business and event apparel: staff shirts, event shirts and tote bags with a logo at a fixed size.
• Apparel brands and decorators: sample runs and reorders that reuse the same approved dimensions.

How is DTF different from screen printing, DTG and heat transfer vinyl?

• Screen printing needs a separate screen for each color, which suits large runs of one design. DTF transfers are printed in full color from your digital file, with no setup fees and no minimums.
• DTG prints directly onto the garment. DTF is printed on film first and then pressed onto the garment, so you can press the transfers when and where you choose.
• Heat transfer vinyl is cut from solid-color vinyl sheets, so multi-color artwork needs layers. A DTF transfer carries full-color artwork, including gradients, on one transfer.

How do I press DTF transfers after they arrive?

Transfers arrive ready to press. Our transfers are made for hot peel, which means you peel the carrier film while the transfer is still warm.

1. Pre-press the garment for 3 to 5 seconds to drive out moisture.
2. Position the transfer film side up, adhesive side down.
3. Press under a Teflon sheet or silicone pad at the settings for your fabric.
4. Hot peel the carrier film while it is still warm, in one smooth motion at a low angle.

Our starting point for cotton is 295°F for 8 to 12 seconds at 60 to 80 PSI. Blends, polyester, hoodies and nylon use different settings, so check the chart by fabric in our guide on how to press DTF transfers, and test on scrap fabric first.

Qualifying, paid, approved, print-ready weekday orders placed by 2:00 PM ET can receive same-day production, subject to capacity. That rule covers production only, not shipping or delivery time.

Production is completed in a G7 Master Qualified facility (ID 534486) led by G7+ Expert Michael Solier (ID 528257). Transfer305 is veteran-owned and supports customers in English and Spanish.
