A strong artwork file gives the printing process better information to work with. The most useful file requirements are simple: correct dimensions, enough pixel information, clean edges, and the right format for the design. Changing a number in a properties panel does not recreate detail that was never captured.

For raster artwork, at the size you actually plan to print, 300 pixels per inch is a strong target. A 4-inch-wide design needs about 1,200 pixels; 10 inches needs about 3,000; 12 inches needs about 3,600.
The same pixel count can be enough or not enough depending on the printed size. The comparison below is a hypothetical calculation, not a customer result or a file-approval rule.

The last two rows use the same pixels. Printing them smaller raises the effective resolution; changing a resolution label alone does not add image detail.

A vector logo can scale cleanly because it is built from shapes instead of a fixed pixel grid.
Anything visible in the digital artwork can affect the finished transfer. Remove boxes or stray pixels outside the design, but keep white lettering, eyes, highlights, reflections, and other intentional details.
Soft fades, shadows, and semi-transparent edges deserve extra review because the white ink layer used in DTF printing can make them behave differently than they look on screen.
Use RGB with an sRGB profile for our normal artwork workflow. Screens emit light; printed colors depend on ink, film, the garment or hard surface, white ink, and viewing conditions. A monitor therefore cannot guarantee an exact visual match. For custom UV-DTF printing, clean color separation and deliberate edges are especially useful when artwork will be applied to a rigid surface.
If a brand color is critical, send a clear reference before a large run so the requirement can be reviewed before production.
Fonts and linked content: Convert live fonts to outlines in vector files and embed linked images. Hidden or missing layers, clipping masks, and unavailable fonts can change what appears after export.
Small text and thin lines: Very fine elements are more fragile. Avoid hairline strokes, use thicker lines when the design allows, keep tiny text readable at the real printed dimensions, and inspect distressed textures or narrow gaps before ordering.
When a premade production sheet is already finished, proof the whole canvas—not only the individual designs. A fast final review helps ensure the sheets are ready for printing and can prevent clipped artwork, wrong quantities, and wasted space.
