UV-DTF vs waterslide decals: compare preparation before the object order
Share
Start with what arrives in the package
Printable waterslide paper and a printed UV-DTF graphic do not arrive at the same production stage. Waterslide paper still needs the correct printing and preparation workflow. Hayes Paper distinguishes inkjet from laser waterslide products, including different sealing requirements, before the decal is released with water and applied.
A UV-DTF order supplies the printed graphic for application to a compatible object. Confirm the actual surface and follow the instructions for that supplied product; do not treat waterslide instructions as UV-DTF instructions.
Compare these decisions side by side
| Decision | What the buyer needs to confirm |
|---|---|
| Printing | Who prints the graphic and which materials that process requires |
| Background | Whether the object should show through or the design needs an opaque background |
| Preparation | Any product-specific sealing, trimming and drying stages |
| Application | Who applies it, on which exact object and finish |
| Finished use | Handling and cleaning instructions for the completed combination |
Do not infer dishwasher performance or suitability for food contact from either method name. The UV-DTF project guide explains the surface information to supply.
A hypothetical clear-object project
Imagine 12 clear display jars with the same logo. Decide first whether the logo should have a visible white background or allow the contents to show through selected areas. Approve that appearance on an actual jar, then compare the complete workflow. A clear material name alone does not resolve how the printed colors will look.
Keep intentional white areas separate from unwanted backgrounds in the production artwork.
Confirm the UV-DTF scope
