Custom Equipment Decals and Logo Asset Labels with UV-DTF
Share
Quick answer: Custom equipment decals printed in UV-DTF put your full-color logo, a "Property of" line and an ID number or QR code on tools, tablets, carts and gym equipment. They go on by hand, with no heat press. Transfer305 prints them in Miami at $0.06 per sq in by size, so a 2 x 1 in label is $0.12, with no minimum order.
These labels are UV-DTF stickers, also searched as DTF stickers. The printed design is all that transfers, so your logo, text and code sit right on the equipment with no white label edge around them.
What are custom equipment decals used for?
If a piece of equipment gets shared, borrowed or carried off site, it should carry your name. UV-DTF labels handle that on smooth, hard metal and plastic:
- Tools: power tools, tool cases and hand tools shared across a crew
- Tablets: staff tablets and their hard cases
- Gym equipment: machine frames, plastic housings and storage racks
- Coolers and carts: catering coolers, utility carts and service carts
- Rental gear: items that go out to customers and need to come back
A large logo on a cart or cooler also turns everyday equipment into signage wherever it travels.
Which businesses use equipment decals?
Any business that shares, rents or moves equipment can use them. Typical cases:
- Contractors and trades: crews that share tools between job sites
- Equipment rental companies: marking every item as yours before it leaves the shop
- Caterers and restaurants: coolers and carts that travel to events
- Gyms and fitness studios: machines and racks matched to an asset list
- Schools, offices and IT teams: shared devices that move between rooms
Heavy machinery and vehicles are different jobs. Transfer305 prints the artwork you supply on UV-DTF decals; it is not a source of model-specific replacement decal sets, and we do not write safety or warning wording. For a safety or warning label, confirm the required wording, size and material with the equipment maker or your safety officer, and test a decal on the real surface and conditions before a full run.
What should a logo asset label include?
A useful asset label answers two questions at a glance: who owns this, and which one is it?
- Your logo in full color, so the label looks like part of your brand
- "Property of [Company]", a short line that settles ownership
- An ID number unique to each item and matching your asset list
- A QR code that opens the item's record or a check-out form
- A phone number, so anyone who finds the item can return it
Give the ID and the QR code room to read and scan. Our guide to barcode stickers and QR code labels covers code size and clear space.
Can you match a brand or spot color on equipment decals?
A spot color is a specific brand color, often named by a Pantone® reference. Send that reference with your order and tell us which equipment surface the decal goes on. We check Pantone references against our measured color data before printing. In-range colors print to target, and for a color outside our measured range we show the closest printable option before printing.
Colors can look different under other light, so review a sample under standard printing-industry viewing conditions. A color check is a pre-print check, not a promise of identical color on every surface. Our UV-DTF color matching page explains how to approve a color on the object.
How much do custom equipment decals cost?
UV-DTF by size costs $0.06 per sq in, so every size is simple to price. Example label sizes run from 0.75 x 1.5 in for an ID tag to 3 x 3 in for a logo that gives a cooler or cart real presence.
| Label | Size | Area | UV-DTF by size, each |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small ID tag | 0.75 x 1.5 in | 1.125 sq in | about $0.07 |
| Slim ID tag | 0.75 x 2 in | 1.5 sq in | $0.09 |
| Logo asset label | 1 x 2 in or 2 x 1 in | 2 sq in | $0.12 |
| Wide ID label | 1 x 3 in | 3 sq in | $0.18 |
| Equipment logo | 3 x 3 in | 9 sq in | $0.54 |
One hundred 2 x 1 in labels cost $12.00 by size. A gang sheet lets you mix every design and number on one print. About 190 labels at 2 x 1 in fit on one 23 x 24 in UV-DTF gang sheet for $22.49, about $0.12 each, and 49 logos at 3 x 3 in fit on the same size sheet, about $0.46 each. These counts assume a simple grid with 1/4 in gaps and are estimates; the builder shows your real layout.
How do UV-DTF labels compare with aluminum, polyester and VOID tags?
Each tag material has its own job:
| Tag type | What it is | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| UV-DTF logo label | Full-color print with no background, applied by hand | Branded equipment, logo plus ID or QR code, short runs and mixed designs |
| Anodized aluminum tag | Print embedded in the aluminum for long life | Equipment where a long-life metal tag is the priority |
| Laminated polyester label | Printed label under a laminate that resists abrasion | Indoor asset tracking |
| Destructible or VOID label | Security label made to reveal a removal attempt | Theft-evident tracking |
A UV-DTF label is not a destructible or VOID security label. For theft-evident tracking, pair it with one: the security label reveals a removal attempt, and the UV-DTF label carries your logo and ID where everyone can see them.
How do you set up numbered or QR labels?
When every label needs its own number or code, you build the layout and we print it exactly as supplied. You create the numbers and QR codes; we do not generate them.
- Design one label at its final size, for example 2 x 1 in, on a transparent background.
- Make one copy for each asset and give it its own ID number or QR code from your asset list.
- Arrange the labels on a 23-inch-wide sheet with a small gap between them.
- Check the sequence, and scan each QR code on screen, before you export the file.
- Send the finished file through upload your UV-DTF gang sheet.
Our artwork guidelines explain file setup, and UV-DTF vs printed labels for variable details covers labels that change from piece to piece. Scan a few printed labels from a small batch before labeling everything.
How do you apply equipment decals?
- Clean the spot until it is free of grease, dust and grime, then let it dry fully.
- Choose a flat, smooth area away from edges, seams, vents and moving parts.
- Lift the clear top film off its backing slowly so the label stays on the film.
- Line the label up and press it down from the middle toward the edges.
- Rub firmly over the whole label, edges included.
- Pull the carrier back slowly at a low angle. If part of the label lifts, lay it back down and rub again.
- Let the label settle before anyone wipes or cleans the equipment.
UV-DTF is made for smooth, hard surfaces such as metal, plastic, glass and acrylic, not fabric. On a textured or unfamiliar surface, test one label before the full set.

Frequently asked questions
What is the right material for asset tags?
It depends on the job. Anodized aluminum is built for long life, laminated polyester suits indoor tracking, and VOID labels reveal removal attempts. For full-color logo labels with an ID or QR code, choose UV-DTF. A UV-DTF label is not a security label, so pair it with a VOID label when you need theft-evident tracking.
Can you print a logo on asset labels?
Yes. UV-DTF prints your logo in full color, including gradients and white, on the same label as the ID number and QR code. The printed design transfers without a background film, so your logo, text and code sit directly on the equipment. Give the ID and QR code enough room to read and scan.
How much do custom equipment decals cost?
By size, UV-DTF decals are $0.06 per sq in: a 2 x 1 in label is $0.12 and a 3 x 3 in logo is $0.54. One hundred 2 x 1 in labels cost $12.00. About 190 of those labels fit on one 23 x 24 in gang sheet for $22.49, about $0.12 each. There is no minimum order.
Can each label have a different number or QR code?
Yes. Lay out your numbered or QR labels on your own sheet and upload the finished file. We print exactly what you send but do not generate the codes. Scan a few printed labels from a small batch before you label every asset.
Do equipment decals work on metal and plastic, and outdoors?
Yes, on smooth, clean, hard metal and plastic, as well as glass and acrylic. UV-DTF is not for fabric. Texture, coatings, curves, washing, abrasion, chemicals and outdoor exposure can change how a decal performs, so we cannot promise results on every surface. Test one label on the real equipment before you order a full run.
How fast can I get equipment decals in Miami?
Qualifying, paid, approved, print-ready weekday orders placed by 2:00 PM ET can receive same-day production, subject to capacity. This same-day rule covers production for qualifying orders, not delivery. Pickup at our Miami facility opens after we confirm the order is ready, and we ship across Florida and nationwide.
