Glass Door Decals for Coolers and Freezers: Where UV-DTF Goes and How to Apply It

Quick answer: Glass door decals for coolers and freezers go on the outside face of the door, applied to dry glass at room temperature. Clean the glass, rub the UV-DTF decal on with firm strokes and lift the carrier away slowly. In Miami, Transfer305 prints full-color cooler door decals starting at $0.54 for a 3 x 3 in price decal, no minimum.

These are UV-DTF stickers, also searched as DTF stickers. Bodegas, convenience stores, cafes, bars and restaurants can use them to put a logo, open hours, prices and beverage promos right where customers reach for a drink.

Glass door decals for coolers and freezers

A cooler door is advertising space your customers already stop in front of. UV-DTF suits that spot because it prints in full color, needs no heat press and goes on glass by hand.

  • Full-color logos, product art and gradients in one decal
  • Single decals printed at the exact size your door layout needs
  • No minimum, so you can start with a single door
  • Same-day production on qualifying orders

UV-DTF is designed for smooth glass like this. Doors with a film or coating you have not decorated before? Try one decal first.

Inside or outside of the glass?

Apply your decal to the outside face of the cooler or freezer door. A graphics film maker explains why the side matters: graphics on the inside of freezer glass (the second surface) are continuously exposed to sub-zero temperatures, while the outside glass (the first surface) is often much warmer than the freezer air.

Glass face Conditions What to do
Outside face (first surface), read from the aisle Often much warmer than the freezer air Apply your UV-DTF decal here, on dry glass at room temperature
Inside face (second surface), read through the glass Continuously exposed to sub-zero temperatures in a freezer Ask us before ordering

If the design must be read through the glass from the other side, ask us before ordering.

How to apply a decal to a cooler door

Moisture is what stops a decal from bonding. In the words of one adhesive film maker, "A pressure-sensitive label material will not stick to water (condensation)." The graphics film maker cited above also advises storing and installing graphics at room temperature and keeping off frosted or wet glass.

  1. Defrost the door, or wait until the glass is dry and at room temperature.
  2. Clean the outside face and dry it completely, with no fog, frost or droplets left.
  3. Mark the position with small strips of masking tape.
  4. Separate the backing with care, keeping the design attached to the carrier film.
  5. Set the decal on the glass from the center outward and rub firmly over the whole design.
  6. Spot a bubble? Lift that area gently, re-lay it and rub it flat.
  7. Peel the carrier slowly and smoothly, folding it back low along the glass.
  8. Let the decal settle before anyone wipes or cleans the door.

What glass door decals cost

Cost depends on area. Single decals by size are $0.06 per square inch, and gang sheets begin at $0.04.

Decal Size By size, each Gang sheet example
Door logo 10 x 10 in (100 sq in) $6.00 4 on a 23 x 24 in sheet ($22.49), about $5.62 each
Header strip with hours 12 x 4 in (48 sq in) $2.88 5 on a 23 x 12 in sheet ($11.49), about $2.30 each
Price or promo decal 3 x 3 in (9 sq in) $0.54 49 on a 23 x 24 in sheet ($22.49), about $0.46 each

Example: a four-door cooler with one 10 x 10 in logo and three 3 x 3 in price decals per door comes to $30.48 by size ($24.00 for the logos plus $6.48 for twelve price decals). Put the four logos on one 23 x 24 in gang sheet instead and the set drops to $28.97. Gang sheet counts are estimates that allow 1/4 inch between pieces.

Changing promos

Promos change faster than logos, so plan your doors in layers. Keep the logo as its own decal and put prices and offers on small separate decals. A new 3 x 3 in promo decal is $0.54, and with no minimum you can order just the pieces that changed.

For a graphic that only needs to stay up through a short promotion, compare UV-DTF vs removable vinyl for temporary branding before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Can you put decals on freezer doors?

Put the decal on the outside face of the glass, and apply it when that face is dry and at room temperature. Smooth it on firmly and lift the carrier away. Test one decal on your door before decorating every door.

Do cooler door decals go inside or outside the glass?

Outside. A graphics film maker notes that the inside of freezer glass is continuously exposed to sub-zero temperatures, while the outside is often much warmer. If the design must be read through the glass from the other side, ask us before ordering.

Why won't my decal stick to a cooler door?

Check for condensation. "A pressure-sensitive label material will not stick to water (condensation)." Defrost the door or wait until the glass is dry and at room temperature, clean it, then apply.

How much do glass door decals cost?

A 10 x 10 in door logo is $6.00 by size, and a 3 x 3 in price or promo decal is $0.54. Four 10 x 10 in logos fit on one 23 x 24 in gang sheet for $22.49.

Can I change cooler door promos easily?

Plan for it. Keep your logo on its own decal and put prices and offers on small separate decals, so a new promo means a new $0.54 decal, not a new door design. For short promotions, see our removable vinyl comparison before ordering.

Can I get cooler decals fast in Miami?

Yes. Qualifying print-ready orders placed by 2:00 PM ET, Monday to Friday, get same-day production at our Miami facility, with local pickup once we confirm the order is ready.
