Office Door Decals and Glass Graphics: What UV-DTF Covers and When ADA Signs Are Required
Share
Quick answer: Office door decals printed in UV-DTF put your logo, company name and glass graphics on the door, applied by hand with no heat press. Transfer305 prints them in Miami at $0.06 per sq in by size, so a 12 x 4 in name decal is $2.88, with no minimum. Under the 2010 ADA Standards, company names, logos and occupant names are exempt from the section 216 sign rules, but signs for restrooms, room numbers and room names must be tactile.
Door decals are UV-DTF stickers, also searched as DTF stickers. On glass they look printed on: the letters and logo transfer by themselves, with no clear film around them, and you apply them by hand, no heat press required.
What can you put on an office door with UV-DTF?
Most of what an office wants on its door is a decal job:
- Your company name and logo
- Occupant names: the people, teams or practices inside
- Decorative glass graphics in your brand colors
- Privacy bands: a printed strip of color or pattern across the glass
- Temporary event signs that stay up 7 days or less
Offices, clinics, salons and gyms can brand every glass door the same way, one door or a whole floor at a time.
Which office door signs must be ADA tactile signs?
The 2010 ADA Standards treat a sign that identifies a permanent room differently from a sign that carries your brand. Section 216.1 states: "Building directories, menus, seat and row designations in assembly areas, occupant names, building addresses, and company names and logos shall not be required to comply with 216." Here is how that sorts out on an office door:
| Sign type | ADA rule | UV-DTF decal? |
|---|---|---|
| Company name or logo on the door | Exempt from 216 (216.1) | Yes |
| Occupant names | Exempt from 216 (216.1) | Yes |
| Decorative glass graphics | Decoration, not a room or directional sign | Yes |
| Temporary event signs, 7 days or less | Not required to comply (216.1) | Yes |
| Directional and informational signs | Visual characters on a non-glare finish (216.3, 703.5) | No: needs a non-glare finish |
| Restroom, room number and room name signs | Raised characters and Grade 2 braille (216.2) | No: order an ADA tactile sign |
Tactile signs use characters raised at least 1/32 inch and Grade 2 braille. They mount with the baseline of the lowest tactile character at least 48 inches above the floor and the baseline of the highest no more than 60 inches, beside the door on the latch side.
UV-DTF does not create raised characters or braille. For permanent room ID signs, order an ADA tactile sign and use UV-DTF for the logos, names and glass graphics around it.
This section is general information, not legal advice. Requirements can differ by building and project, so confirm what applies to your doors with your building owner, architect or local authority before you order any permanent room sign.
How do you put a logo and company name on a glass door?
Your logo on the glass greets every visitor, so give it room to breathe:
- Measure the glass: size the logo to the glass panel, with clear space at the edges.
- Logo: a 10 x 10 in logo costs $6.00; scale up or down to fit your door.
- Name line: add a 12 x 4 in company or occupant name below the logo.
- Hardware: keep graphics clear of handles, push plates and the frame.
- Side of the glass: apply the decal on the face people read it from.
If the design must be read through the glass from the other side, ask us before ordering.
Can you add decorative glass graphics and privacy bands?
Glass walls and doors are blank space. UV-DTF fills them with full-color patterns, brand colors, gradients and line art, printed to your exact size.
- Privacy bands: a band of color or pattern across the glass
- Brand patterns: repeating logos or shapes along a glass wall
- Artwork: graphics that set the tone for a waiting area or meeting space
- Seasonal graphics: designs for holidays and campaigns
Every piece is priced the same way: width x height x $0.06 by size. For storefront glass, see window and door decals for business, and for refrigerated displays, read about glass door decals for coolers and freezers.
How much do office door decals cost?
Pricing is by area: $0.06 per sq in for a single decal by size, or $0.04 per sq in on 23-inch-wide gang sheets. Neither has a minimum.
| Decal | Size | Single decal, by size | Gang sheet option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Company or occupant name | 12 x 4 in (48 sq in) | $2.88 | 5 on a 23 x 12 in sheet ($11.49), about $2.30 each |
| Logo for a glass door | 10 x 10 in (100 sq in) | $6.00 | 4 on a 23 x 24 in sheet ($22.49), about $5.62 each |
Example: a logo and a name line for one door cost $8.88 by size. Name decals for five offices cost $14.40 by size, or $11.49 on one 23 x 12 in gang sheet. Gang sheet counts are estimated at 1/4 in spacing.

How do you apply office door decals on glass?
- Clean the side of the glass the decal goes on, then dry it fully so no streaks, dust or moisture remain.
- Mark the position with small pieces of tape, and check that lettering sits level.
- Peel the clear top film away from its backing slowly, keeping the design on the film.
- Lay the decal on the glass at your marks, starting in the middle.
- Rub outward to the edges, then rub firmly across the whole design once more.
- Peel the carrier back slowly, close to the glass. Spot a bubble? Ease that corner up, set it back down and rub it flat.
- Let the decal settle before anyone cleans that side of the glass.
UV-DTF goes on smooth, hard surfaces such as glass, acrylic, metal and plastic. For a painted or wood door, test one decal before the full set.

Frequently asked questions
Do office door signs need braille?
Signs that identify permanent rooms, such as restrooms, room numbers and room names, need raised characters and Grade 2 braille. Company names, logos and occupant names do not; under 216.1 they are not required to comply with 216. Confirm what applies to your doors with your building owner or local authority.
What height do ADA signs go?
Tactile signs mount with the baseline of the lowest tactile character at least 48 inches above the floor and the baseline of the highest no more than 60 inches, beside the door on the latch side. Requirements can differ by building and project, so confirm the details with your building owner, architect or local authority before you order a sign.
Can a company logo on a door be a decal?
Yes. The 2010 ADA Standards list company names and logos among the signs not required to comply with 216, so a full-color UV-DTF decal is a straightforward choice. Apply it on the face people read it from, and send us a photo of the door showing the glass, frame and hardware if you want to plan the layout before ordering.
Are glossy door signs ADA compliant?
Not for signs that must meet 703.5, such as directional, informational and room ID signs. Section 703.5.1 says "Characters and their background shall have a non-glare finish." Company names and logos are exempt from 216. Confirm which of your door signs fall under these rules with your building owner or local authority.
How much do custom door decals cost?
By size, UV-DTF is $0.06 per sq in: a 12 x 4 in name decal is $2.88 and a 10 x 10 in logo is $6.00. Gang sheets are $0.04 per sq in on 23-inch-wide sheets, which suits several names at once. A logo and a name line for one door cost $8.88 by size. There is no minimum order.
How fast can I get office door decals in Miami?
