UV-DTF Decals for Custom Acrylic Signs, Including Backlit and Light Box Panels

Quick answer: To make a custom acrylic sign, apply a full-color UV-DTF decal to a clean acrylic panel. No heat press is needed: rub the decal down firmly and peel away the carrier. Transfer305 prints the decals, not finished signs, in Miami at $0.06 per sq in by size, so a 5 x 7 in tabletop graphic is $2.10, with no minimum order.

These decals are made for sign makers, event planners, online sellers and businesses that already have acrylic blanks. They are UV-DTF stickers, also searched as DTF stickers. Once the carrier comes off, just your printed design remains, so the clear acrylic shows around it.

What is a custom acrylic sign?

A custom acrylic sign is a rigid acrylic panel that carries your own logo, text or artwork. Acrylic comes clear, white, black, frosted and in many other colors. Most acrylic has the smooth, hard face UV-DTF is made for, so a sign finished with a UV-DTF decal looks printed on, yet it needs no special equipment to apply.

Projects you can make with UV-DTF decals:

  • Menu boards and price signs for counters
  • Wedding and event signs, from welcome signs to table numbers and seating charts
  • Office and suite signs, name plates and logo panels
  • Point-of-sale stands with a logo, an offer or a QR code
  • Trade show and retail display panels

Transfer305 sells the decals, not finished signs or acrylic blanks. If you already have acrylic blanks, or you build signs for clients, we supply the printed graphics at the exact size you order. What types of acrylic signs can you make with UV-DTF decals?

You can decorate wall signs, tabletop signs, freestanding signs and light box panels. The sign type decides which face gets the decal.

Sign type Typical use Where the decal goes
Wall sign or standoff panel Office, suite and lobby signs, logo panels Front face of the acrylic
Tabletop or easel sign Menus, price signs, welcome signs, table numbers The face that points toward your guests
Freestanding sign read from both sides Event and counter signs One decal on each face
Light box or backlit panel Illuminated signs and displays Approve one decal with the light on, then order the set
Design read through the acrylic from the back Reverse-read graphics Ask us before ordering

You choose the acrylic, so the base color, shape and size are yours. Clear acrylic shows around the printed design. If your panel is colored, frosted, coated or textured, order one decal and test it before the full set.

Why finish acrylic signs with UV-DTF decals?

  • Full-color artwork: logos, product art and QR codes print in one decal.
  • No heat press: you apply the decal by hand with firm rubbing and a slow carrier peel.
  • Exact sizes: each decal is printed at the width and height you order, from a 3 x 3 in table number to a 10 x 10 in logo panel.
  • Priced by area: $0.06 per sq in by size, so small signs cost less than large ones.
  • No minimum: order one sign graphic or decals for a whole event.
  • Your acrylic, your supplier: use blanks you already have or build for clients.

How do you apply UV-DTF to acrylic?

  1. Leave the protective film on the acrylic until you are ready, so the face stays free of scratches and dust.
  2. Remove the protective film from the side that gets the decal, and make sure that face is clean and dry.
  3. Position the decal. A couple of small tape tabs help hold it straight.
  4. Lay it down from the center outward.
  5. Rub firmly over the entire decal so every part grabs the acrylic.
  6. If you spot a bubble, ease that area up, set it down again and rub it smooth.
  7. Peel the carrier back slowly and smoothly.
  8. Let the decal settle before you wipe or clean the sign.

How do you mount the sign after applying the decal?

Mounting hardware such as standoffs, easel backs or adhesive strips is separate from the decal. Apply the decal while the panel lies flat on a table, keep it clear of drilled holes and edges, then install the sign.

How do you clean a finished acrylic sign?

Wait until the decal has settled, then clean the sign gently. Abrasion and harsh chemicals can change how a decal performs, so test one decal if the sign will see heavy cleaning.

Which side of the acrylic should the decal go on?

Put the decal on the face people read. For most acrylic signs, from a wall-mounted office sign to a tabletop menu, that is the front surface. For a freestanding sign read from both sides, use one decal on each face.

If the design must be read through the acrylic from the other side, ask us before ordering. The same front-or-back question comes up on storefront glass, covered in our guide to window decals for business.

Can you make backlit acrylic signs and light box panels?

A light box sign or any other backlit sign changes how a print reads once the light is on. Backlit results depend on the white layer and the light behind the panel.

Order one decal by size, apply it to your panel and approve it with the light on before you print the full set. Check it lit and unlit, because a panel that looks right on a table can read differently with the light behind it.

How much do custom acrylic sign decals cost?

Pricing is by area: $0.06 per sq in by size, or $0.04 per sq in on 23-inch-wide gang sheets.

Sign graphic Size By size, each
Tabletop sign or menu 5 x 7 in (35 sq in) $2.10
Welcome or office sign 8 x 10 in (80 sq in) $4.80
Logo panel 10 x 10 in (100 sq in) $6.00
Name plate 12 x 4 in (48 sq in) $2.88
POS logo or QR code 3 x 3 in (9 sq in) $0.54

Example: a wedding set with one 8 x 10 in welcome sign and ten 5 x 7 in table signs comes to $25.80 by size.

For larger pieces, ordering by size can cost less than a fixed sheet. Four 8 x 10 in graphics fit on a 23 x 24 in gang sheet for $22.49, about $5.62 each, against $4.80 each by size. Gang sheets pay off on small pieces: 49 table-number decals at 3 x 3 in share one 23 x 24 in sheet for $22.49, about $0.46 each. Those sheet counts assume 1/4 inch spacing and are estimates.

Sign makers who match brand colors across a set or a reorder get decals from a G7 Master Qualified facility.

Frequently asked questions

Can you put UV-DTF on acrylic?

Yes. UV-DTF is made for smooth, hard surfaces, and acrylic is one of them. Clean and dry the face, position the decal, rub it down firmly from the center outward, then peel the carrier away slowly. No heat press is needed. If your panel has a coating or texture, test one decal before you order a full set.

How do you make a custom acrylic sign with a decal?

Start with an acrylic blank and measure the face that will carry the design. Order a UV-DTF decal at that size, apply it to the clean front surface and peel the carrier. Transfer305 supplies the printed decal; you or your sign maker supply the acrylic and any mounting hardware.

Does UV-DTF work on a light box or backlit sign?

Backlit results depend on the white layer and the light behind the panel, so approve the decal with the light on. Order one decal by size, apply it to your panel and check it lit and unlit before you order the full run. We cannot promise how a decal will read on a given light box.

How much does a custom acrylic sign decal cost?

By size, UV-DTF decals are $0.06 per sq in, so a 5 x 7 in tabletop graphic is $2.10 and an 8 x 10 in sign graphic is $4.80. Small pieces cost less on a gang sheet: 3 x 3 in table numbers come to about $0.46 each, 49 to a 23 x 24 in sheet at $22.49. There is no minimum order.

Can acrylic sign decals be used outdoors, and will they scratch or fade?

Outdoor exposure, abrasion, cleaning products and chemicals can change how a decal performs, so we cannot promise results on a given sign. Let the decal settle before washing, rubbing or exposure, and test one decal in the real conditions before you order a full run.

How fast can I get acrylic sign decals in Miami?
